At a glance
- What is a 360 tummy tuck? A circular abdominoplasty: the incision goes all the way around the waist, so that excess skin and fat are removed from the abdomen, the flanks and the lower back in the same operation.
- Is it the same as a tummy tuck with lipo 360? No. Lipo 360 removes fat around the waist by liposuction and is combined with a classic tummy tuck. The 360 tummy tuck removes loose skin all the way around the body.
- Who is it for? Mainly people who have lost a lot of weight, often 100 lb or more, after a sleeve, a bypass, a GLP-1 treatment or diet, and whose loose skin extends to the sides and back.
- What about the scar? It runs all the way around the waist, placed low so that it can be hidden by underwear or swimwear, and fades over one to two years.
- How much does it cost in Turkey? The 360 tummy tuck is priced on quote, after the surgeon has reviewed your photos and medical history. Aram Clinic packages include surgery, hospital stay, hotel and transfers.
“Tummy tuck 360” is one of the most confusing terms in body contouring. Some clinics use it for a tummy tuck combined with liposuction all around the waist; surgeons use it for a very different operation, the circular abdominoplasty, also called a belt lipectomy or lower body lift. This page explains the real 360 tummy tuck, who it is for and how it differs from a classic tummy tuck.
What is a 360 tummy tuck?
In a classic tummy tuck in Turkey, the surgeon works on the front of the abdomen only: excess skin is removed between the navel and the pubic area, and the abdominal muscles can be repaired. When the loose skin extends to the hips and the back, this is not enough, because folds remain on the sides and at the back of the waist.
The 360 tummy tuck, or circular abdominoplasty, treats the whole circumference of the waist. The incision goes all the way around the body, so that loose skin and fat are removed from the abdomen, the flanks and the lower back in one operation. Because the back is tightened, the buttocks are often lifted slightly as well.
Tummy tuck 360 vs tummy tuck with lipo 360
The two names sound alike, but they do not treat the same problem:
| Tummy tuck 360 (circular) | Tummy tuck + lipo 360 | |
|---|---|---|
| Main problem treated | Loose skin all around the waist | Loose skin at the front, fat around the waist |
| What is removed | Skin and fat from the abdomen, flanks and back | Skin at the front; fat by liposuction around the waist |
| Scar | All the way around the waist | Low on the abdomen, hip to hip |
| Typical patient | After major weight loss | After pregnancy, or stubborn fat with good skin on the back |
If your skin on the back is still firm and your concern is mainly fat on the flanks, a tummy tuck with lipo 360 is usually more suitable. Only an examination by the surgeon can tell which one you need.
The circular tummy tuck removes skin all the way round; lipo 360 removes fat all the way round.
Mostly after major weight loss
The 360 tummy tuck is mainly performed after massive weight loss, often 100 lb (around 45 kg) or more, whether after a sleeve, a gastric bypass, a GLP-1 treatment such as Ozempic or Mounjaro, or a long diet. Skin stretched for years loses its elasticity and does not shrink back, even with sport.
Before surgery, your weight should be stable for several months and close to your goal, since further weight loss would bring back loose skin. When several areas are concerned, such as the arms, thighs or chest, the procedures are usually planned in stages; our guide to surgery after massive weight loss explains how. To compare all the options for loose skin, see also our page on skin removal surgery in Turkey.
Which tummy tuck is right for you?
| Where the loose skin is | Procedure usually considered |
|---|---|
| Below the navel only | Mini tummy tuck |
| Whole front of the abdomen | Full tummy tuck |
| Abdomen and hips (love handles) | Extended tummy tuck |
| Abdomen, flanks and back | Tummy tuck 360 (circular abdominoplasty) |
| Abdomen, flanks, back, buttocks and thighs | Body lift |
Recovery
- Hospital stay: usually a few nights, with drains in the first days.
- Position: slightly bent at first, as both the front and the back have been tightened.
- Compression garment: worn for several weeks.
- Return to activity: walking from the first day, light work after two to three weeks, sport after about six weeks, with your surgeon’s agreement.
- Most common risks: delayed healing, seroma and widened scars; a stable weight, good nutrition and no smoking reduce them.
Plan to stay around seven to ten days in Turkey, an estimate your surgeon confirms according to the procedure and how you heal. Before booking, read our guide on cosmetic surgery safety in Turkey.
