express quoteDental implant : what is it ?
A dental implant is an artificial dental root, which serves as
a support for a replica of a porcelain tooth or a group of teeth.
The titanium or zirconia dental implant is perfectly biocompatible, once inserted into the
jaw bone, it fuses to the natural tissues around it and has a very low chance or potential
complications.
One or more porcelain or resin crowns are then attached to the dental implant, allowing them
to be locked in place.
How to prepare for dental implant surgery ?
To best prepare for your dental implants, the first thing that yous
should do is visit your dentist, during this visit they will run some tests and ensure that
there are no problems affecting the teeth or gums.
Any oral condition or disease must be treated before moving on to dental implantology to
prevent any potential risk or complications during the operation or after it.
Sometimes a damaged tooth can have an intact root, in this case; the implant is no longer
essential and the dentist will recommend the placement of dental veneers instead.
An x-ray may be taken to assess the condition of your jaw bone, if the jaw bone is atrophied
or weakened, an auto-graft of bone tissue will be performed to consolidate and densify
it.
This step is essential to ensure proper fixation of the dental implant and in some cases,
biocompatible artificial tissues can be used to spare the patient's body and reduce healing
time.
What happens during the dental implant procedure ?
The procedure takes place under local anesthesia either with or
without sedation depending on your condition and your needs and requires several
sessions.
The dentist starts by making an incision in the gum to access the jawbone then drills the
bone to free up space for the implant and inserts the metal rod into the space created.
Once the implant is inserted, a period of 2 to 6 months is necessary to allow the natural
bone tissue to fuse with the artificial root to lock it in place.
This is the process of osseointegration, during this time; the patient can wear a temporary
dental prosthesis to conceal the hole in the gum.
After a good healing period, a prosthetic abutment is placed on the implant, and the dentist
then takes the dental impression to make a custom-made crown, a bridge or a removable dental
prosthesis depending on how many teeth you are missing.
It takes a period of 3 weeks for your um to heal properly around the abutment, after which
the resin or porcelain crown is attached to the implant.
The color of the implants will match the color of your natural teeth to give a symmetrical
look to them.

What happens after the placement of dental implants ?
In the days following the placement of the dental implant,
bleeding and mild pain may occur, your doctor will prescribe some medication to keep the
infection away and painkillers to deal with the discomfort.
It's advised that you switch to a diet that consists of warm and soft food and keep away
from foods that can damage or stain your new dental implants.
You should also avoid tobacco and alcohol for at least a month as they can severely damage
your teeth and are bad for your overall health.
If you have a habit of grinding your teeth you should work on stopping it and also refrain
from any violent exertion or rigorous physical activity to prevent bleeding.
To keep your new dental implants for a very long time, it's advised that you adopt rigorous
oral hygiene which means gentle brushing and using dental floss and mouthwash on a daily
basis.
What are the results of dental implants and when are they visible ?
The results of dental implants are immediately visible after
fixing the crown, over the weeks, the healing of the gum tissue around the abutment further
improves the appearance of the crown, giving it a very natural look.
Dental implants are very strong, stable and durable, they facilitate chewing and allow you
to have good speech and completely cover the gaps in your mouth.
In addition, the dental implant improves the aesthetics of your smile, and also your oral
health since a healthy tooth reduces the risk of cavities and gum disease.
What are the risks of dental implants ?

and are actually very safe, but as any other cosmetic or medical procedure
there is always that rare chance of something happening.
This is why you need to know these risks and be prepared for them.
Your doctor will help you to understand these potential complications and
also instruct you on how to stay away from them and keep a healthy looking
and beautiful mouth.
Some of the risks of dental implants are :
